Tomislav Zbozinek, Ph.D.

Dr. Tomislav Zbozinek is an Associate Director of the Anxiety and Depression Research Center (ADRC). He earned his PhD in clinical psychology at UCLA under Dr. Michelle Craske’s mentorship at the ADRC. Dr. Zbozinek completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral clinical internship at UCLA’s Counseling and Psychological Services center. He then completed a four-year postdoctoral fellowship at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).

Dr. Zbozinek’s research goal is to improve our understanding and treatment of anxiety and depression. To that end, Dr. Zbozinek’s research investigates Pavlovian learning, decision-making, longitudinal trajectories of symptomatology, and treatment outcome. He also synthesizes research findings into reviews with relevance for clinical practice. Additionally, Dr. Zbozinek is the Principal Investigator of an ongoing NIMH-funded K23 clinical trial examining a potential way to improve exposure therapy for anxiety. He supervises and trains PhD students in conducting therapy as part of this clinical trial and other clinical trials in the ADRC. He is also on the Editorial Board of Behaviour Research and Therapy.

Clinically, Dr. Zbozinek is a licensed psychologist in California, where he provides evidence-based therapy for anxiety and depression (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, exposure therapy, positive affect treatment).
